Text Box:      The four Lowes gift certificates and the four sets of carving tools that were used as raffle gifts for those attending the dinner was a personal gift to the guild from Frank Bulian.
Frank enjoys carving, the guild and the folks who rub elbows at the weekly carving sessions.  He delights in giving not only the things mentioned but many other unnamed donations to this group and we are all appreciative of his kindness.
Ron Pickens was able to obtain many items used as dinner raffle gifts from Gwynn Advertising and from Maggie Espina of East Ohio Regional Hospital.  This enlivened the dinner participation's.

During the show a sale of back issues of CHIP CHATS, Woodsmith, Fine Woodworking and other magazines were sold by librarian Ed Peyton.
This proved to be a nice venture for the club and the visitors.  The magazines sold for a quarter each which were appreciated by the purchaser and by the guild since we were able to remove some of the clutter from the club room.  The treasury received $61.00 from this sale.  We should be able to do this next year.

Thanks to all club members who helped out this past year, without you the show would not have been a success.
Thanks are in order for the fine folks from out of town who take part in displaying and demonstrating and to the two venders, Dick Traczyk of Little Mountain, (who donated a box of golf balls and a carving mat for the dinner raffle) and Jim and Rita Lukens who sell the fine wood which attract many non-member and aspiring carvers to the show.

During the show chances were sold and the winners were:
1st.-Weeks cabin stay,  Peter Conklin, New Martinsville, WV
2nd.-Dinner/4, Bob Brosch, Wheeling
3rd.-Dinner /4, Molly & Ann Brown, Grove City, OH
4th.-Dinner/2, Hammer, Wadsworth, OH
Text Box: 5th.-Dinner /2, Margaret Charlton, Bridgeport, OH
6th.– Dinner /2 Marsha Rinkes, St Clairsville, OH
7th.-Coke Cooler, Ray Thurston, Mentor, OH
Next year we hope to again present the 30’th consecutive Show And Sale during the Labor Day weekend September 1 and 2, 2007.

Teaching
Presently Clark Adams is instructing 6 carvers in deep relief carving on Monday evenings in the far rear room of the club area.  Another group is scheduled later, see the bulletin board for information.  Cost is $5.00 for the wood.
Activities chairman, Harry Sykes, has some other teaching sessions in mind with instructors after the deep relief and the Christmas festivities are completed.  See Harry for further details.
These sessions are for the benefit of furthering your carving skills especially for the beginning carver.  Small groups derive better benefits thus the number of participants are limited.

Leftovers
Please notify Joe Hodorowski and/or Dan Kerr if you have a change of address and/or E-mail info.  Also if you have an E-mail address and would like it to be part of the roster let us know.

A long lost chain sawn eagle won by Erin Long of Hudson, OH is now in the hands of the owner.  It seems back in 2003 this was a Christmas tree raffle prize won by Erin but never claimed, (they were to pick the item up).  All was forgotten till the eagle was discovered in our storage cabinet.  After some records searching we can now say the eagle has landed.
Text Box:      When you have the opportunity check out the new club web site
www.oglebaywoodcarvers.com  Thanks to Clark Adam’s son a wealth of information about the Guild and Oglebay is listed.  The latest newsletter is also displayed.  Due to a recent hospitalization of Clark’s son any further updates may be on hold till he recoups.

If anyone has a band saw and would like to donate some of their time in making some cutouts for sale to club members let Ed Peyton or Harry Sykes, know.  The guild will supply the wood free if you will donate your time.  We are in need of some different varieties that would satisfy a large cross section of carvers.  A large number of carvers lack the tools to make their own cutouts and rely on friends within the club to help them out.
Ed or Harry can guide you toward some good patterns.  Leonard Subasic was a master in this area and he kept the guild well supplied, now we need someone to step up to the plate and deliver like Len.  Won’t you help?

It was nice to see some members who were very active return to the carving sessions.  Due to the illness of both Don King and John Yancosek wives, they were unable to attend.

We still miss the humor and joking of the Thursday morning carving sessions with Sam DeFillippo who has been ill for quite sometime.  Sam we are pulling for your return.  If you are so inclined request a little help from the big carver up above for Sam and the other members who are experiencing one of life's biggest challenges.

At our last carving show it was nice to see Howard Flynn from Parkville, MD.  Howie always stops by the club room on Thursdays and goes to lunch with us when he is in the area to visit with his daughter-in-law and the grand kids who reside in Wheeling.  If you recall Howard lost his young son a few years ago while he was jogging on the Wheeling hiking trails.  The son’s wife chose to remain in Wheeling and a few
